Record-Breaking Enrollment Positions Coastal Alabama Among the Fastest Growing Community Colleges in the State

The numbers are in, and Coastal Alabama Community College is officially the second fastest growing community college in the State of Alabama.  With a 17 percent enrollment increase, Coastal Alabama, which continuously ranks in the top three largest community colleges in the state, serves six counties in southwest Alabama.

Under the leadership of President Aaron Milner, the College continues to seek new opportunities for students to thrive, and students are noticing.  “’Stagnant’ will never be associated with Coastal Alabama,” said Dr. Milner. “We are creating a culture that students want to be associated with, and we are proud of the results so far.”

Over the past two years, enrollment has steadily increased, but this fall touts the largest increase in all categories, including first-time freshmen, dual enrollment, returning students, and transfer students. Additionally, on-campus traditional courses and online offerings continue to expand to meet the growing need.

“I’ve never seen an enrollment increase like this,” said Coastal Alabama Community College’s Dean of Student Services, Dr. Dendy Moseley.  “It truly takes the whole college working together to impact students and to change lives, and their efforts are reflected in these historical numbers.”

This year alone, Coastal Alabama has implemented new academic offerings, athletic opportunities, student engagement efforts, and has even implemented a new advising model to help students from start to finish.

“There is no other college in the state that has the opportunity we have to impact students’ lives,” said Dr. Milner, referencing the large geographic land mass that Coastal Alabama serves. “We take our mission seriously, and I could not be more proud of the passion and dedication of our employees.”
